Encapsulated Brushes

Brushes with steel wire are also available in encapsulated models.
These Brushes are used for special, but also for common brushing applications.

By embedding in tough plastic the filling width always remains the same and early break of the wires can be prevented. It is the perfect tool for long lasting and safe working.
The abrasion of the encapsulated brush is in small, powdery parts. Hence, working with those brushes is safer, but protective clothing must be worn, though.

The advantages when working with encapsulated brushes are longer lifetime and a harder brush effect.

For different applications different brush types are in use. For example encapsulated end brushes or wheel brushes with shank often are used for the treatment of working parts in the automotive industry.
Encapsulated wheel brushes without shank in different diameters are e.g. used on angle grinders for an effective working on weld seams.

Depending on the application the filling material of the brush is crimped steel wire, stainless steel wire or also brass wire.

For more information concerning the use of encapsulated brushes or also other brushes please contact us or ask for our detailed product catalogue.

Precise working with end brushes with one knot

Among others, Lessmann standard products are e.g. knotted end brushes. Those are ideal for treating bores or slots in components and other working pieces. Next to the common end brushes with several knots, Lessmann also offers end brushes with only one knot.
Especially inner edges and small angles of working pieces can be reached easily with a knot diameter of only 6 mm.

The single knot is twisted against the rotating direction. Thus the knot is not opened while working.

Next to those end brushes, Lessmann offers special end brushes “narrow crimping”. This end brush narrow with crimped wire features through its dense filling. Hence the brushes show a harder brushing effect than brushes with normal crimped wire.
The standard diameter of this end brushes with narrow crimping is 12 or 22 mm.
Next to the standard range, the brushes are also available with extra long shanks or different diameters as well as in a pointed version.

Knotted End Brushes with stainless steel wire
and steel wire 0,15mm

According to the RPM, knotted end brushes with shank will vary in dimension. Therefore it enables the user to work in areas which are hard to reach such as drilled holes, recesses of all kinds or other working parts.
The cups of the knot end brushes with stainless steel wire are coated with plastic to protect the stainless surface. Furthermore they are characterized with a green label to tell them easily apart from brushes with steel wire.

Wires with a diameter of 0,15 mm are less aggressive and more flexible, hence it can adapt even better to surfaces and working parts which need to be treated.

Article numbers of our standard brushes:
453.338 (diameter 19 mm, 6 knots, stainless steel wire)
454.338 (diameter 22 mm, 8 knots, stainless steel wire)
456.338 (diameter 29 mm, 12 knots, stainless steel wire)
453.238 (diameter 19 mm, 6 knots, steel wire)

Duster with Polypropylene Filament

Dusters with different filling materials like steel wire, brass wire or coco have been in the Lessmann product range for a long time.
New is the duster with polypropylene filament.

This duster is ideal for dedusting or cleaning. The filling material is relatively stiff, strong and stable to most organic solvents, fats and alcohol as well as to most acids and bases.
The water absorption of polypropylene is very low, that means that the duster is also applicable under wet conditions.
The upper service temperature of polypropylene is 100-110°C.
All those characteristics of the dusters cause a very flexible usage in various industrial companies and crafts enterprises.

This duster measures 320 mm, 175 mm are filled with polypropylene. The filling height is 70 mm.

Cup brushes with straight wire

For finishing large surfaces usually cup brushes are in use. Frequently hand-used machines (e.g. angle grinders) are taken for removing rust, dirt, colour or other adherent particles. Those brushes are in use for a common mechanical deburring, too.

In standard cup brushes the use of abrasive nylon is unusual, because this filling material has special characteristics which can not be applied in common cup brushes.

Abrasive nylon filament for deburring operations in machining centres are approved, therefore Lessmann developed a brush with a straight cup. This tool brings out certain advantages when machining with brushes. Tests show that those advantages can be applied on abrasive nylon as well as on wire filament:
The support of the filling material on the sides in the straight cup causes a higher density with pressure stability. Therefore, when starting the brush on the working piece a higher pressure is produced.
Due to the straight cup the filling material is pressed less to the outside. Hence more cone points work on the surface.
The filling material of brushes with a straight cup is less flexible and advances the brush effects by less immersion depth. A better deburring effect, a higher rate of feed and a longer durability are possible.

Also as a not rotating brush, the cup brush with a straight filament is always advantageous when high pressure in common cup brushes might cause an evasion of the filling material.

Depending on the customers’ demands, cup brushes are available with different threads (M10, M14, W5/8) or bores. Adapter sets and drive arbors are additionally available ex stock.

The Brushes are in steel wire, stainless steel wire, brass wire, abrasive nylon or any other filling material in different diameters available for immediate delivery.

Brushes with mixed filament for deburring and cleaning

Brushes with mixed filament are used for special applications. With those brushes it is possible to complete two applications in only one work step.
Lessmann produces high quality wheel and disc brushes with mixed filament. Brushes with a mix out of steel wire and abrasive nylon above all are used for deburring work parts. The wire knocks off the burr, the abrasive nylon which has also grinding effects on the side, makes a defined rounding of the edges possible.

It is also common to have a combination of steel wire and nylon bristles, so that surfaces can be cleaned effectively. The steel wire removes the coarse deposits, the nylon bristles take off the fine residua in the same time and they polish the work piece additionally.

On request also other combinations of filling materials are possible.
